The Future is Sustainable: How ESG and Climate Change are Reshaping Investing

Recently, investors and business leaders gathered virtually for The State of ESG webinar sponsored by GreenBiz to discuss how environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and climate change are impacting investing. Moderated by Grant Harrison of GreenBiz, the webinar asked how investors are allocating capital to climate solutions and navigating ESG disclosure requirements and ideological barriers in 2023.

Speakers highlighted how sustainability is no longer a “nice to have” but a “must have” as investors demand that companies provide transparent ESG disclosures and take action on critical issues like climate change. According to Leslie Samuelrich of Green Century Funds, Pedro Henriques da Silva of Sierra Club Foundation and Sada Geuss of Trillium Asset Management, companies can no longer ignore ESG risks, and investors are putting their money where their values are by funneling billions into #ESGfunds and sustainable companies.

Now is the time for investors and companies to take a #OneHealth approach to ESG investing to mitigate risks like #AntimicrobialResistance and safeguard our planet from the triple threat of pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss. To advance the sustainable investing movement, attendees called for standardized ESG reporting, more sustainable investment products, cross-sector partnerships and wider use of ESG data in decisions.

The webinar made it clear that sustainable investing is the future.
